Janet, I'll pass this to editorial team... But to answer your last question "Hard times, hard decisions.... who is making them" The answer would be "everyone!" We are all being pressured to make the hard decisions. The accountability for our actions is the tremendous. This is a good thing, but it does lead to additional stress before the decision is made, second guessing, and/or delayed action. I am an action person, so I guess I'll be the second guessing one. Good Luck!

What keeps me up at night? The pursuit of the best way to stretch limited funding when already sliding down the slippery slope away from best practices...what are the non-negotiables, and how are others defending those decisions or stances. Obviously, we're not talking showcase operations commonly glamorized, but the nitty-gritty, rubber-hits-the-road in a poor economy. For instance, are we living with those worn pumps and their higher energy consumption rather than bearing the repair/replacement costs right now? Are we operating with fewer spare parts on the shelves, gambling that we won't have a show-stopper failure? Are we cannibalizing from other parts in our system as a stop-gap measure? Hard times, hard decisions.... who is making them; I'd LOVE to read about it.

The value of prelube =) Mr. Martin Sr. is 98 years old and still engineering innovative pumps - works every day and taught himself SolidWorks at 90! He was featured in our paper here and speaks about his contributions to the engineering/pump world. Smiles to share =) =) =)
