I am trying to convince some people in our Engineering Group that there is a significant difference in damage caused by Aeration, which is more like erosion, and true Cavitation. In my oppinion Aeration would create a more erosive type of damage directly at the point of maximum fluid velocit whereas with true Cavitation the damage would be just down stream from the orifice where the Flow vs, Distance (x) curve recovers above the Vapor Pressure of the curve.
