The pump shaft sealing,is usually by Oil Seal , Gland Pack or Mechanicak seal depending on the application.
However, many of the pump manufacturers manual does not give the full details of the seal and or the maintenance and over haul details,This issue can be highlighted /addressed in the coming issues

I’m looking for a kind of short listed rule of thumbs on applications, advantages and disadvantages of wavy face seals. These seals are special design and I feel most of the pump users and operators are not familiar with them.

Accoing to application there are variety of mechanical seals available. This also compensate by gland or asbestos packing in some case. Mechanical seal is the best solution for the pump shaft sealing because of its durability and easy maintenance. Periodically on seal faces needs to be changed which is avaialble as spares in market.
